How much freezer space do you really need

Remarkably, even with just a bit of freezer space, you can store a substantial amount depending on your stocking requirements. How can we figure this out?

Freezer Space

As a general guideline for freezer space needed,

1 cubic foot of freezer space
allows you to store between 35 and 40 pounds of packaged meat.

Why the variability? Because different meat gets packaged in different shapes which will change the amount you can squeeze in.

We do save a lot of space with our vacuum packed square ground beef packs!

Chest Freezer VS. Upright Freezer

Chest Freezer:

Personally being vertically challenged makes it hard to reach the bottom by having to bend over the sides to reach in. How ever these usually will fit more meat. You have to stack from the bottom up....and if your like me and don't always make a list of what's all in that freezer things might get lost or forgotten. but over all they are very efficient and cost effective.

Upright freezer:

If you like to be organized and visually able to see most of your freezer contents this is a great option. These are also great at saving space too because they don't take up much of a foot print for space.
